Business Storytelling - Hoosier Business Machines, Inc.
Hoosier Business Machines, Inc. opened on February 1st, 1956 and is owned by Kim Lottess, Scott Horney and Mike Horney.
Hoosier Business Machine Co. originally began in the Uptown Building (14th & Main) in 1956 at which time Lee Horney was hired as a service technician, servicing mechanical cash registers. Growth necessitated moves to the current Corbin's Drapery building (1966), then Hoffman Office Supply building (1978). In 1978, Lee purchased the business from Bernie Hoffman & operated from the new addition on Jackson Street. HBM moved to its current location on Main Street - former Schneider's Clothing Store - in 1991. Lee has since turned the business over to his 3 children - Kim Lottes, Scott & Mike Horney - who continue with the same philosophy of customer service that Lee instilled.
When asked what makes the business unique, the owners said, “HBM offers a full range of Kyocera office equipment, related software and supplies, along with document management systems throughout Southern Indiana. We also offer a variety of print/copy services. Our techs are continually recognized for their expertise by Kyocera which is why we are known for our service, as well as our customer service. Since 1956, our focus has been on our customers, our neighbors, our friends.”
HBM prides themselves on the relationships they’ve built over the years and being able to serve their customers in the way they deserve.
