Business Storytelling - Fire Horse Yoga

Last Updated 8/28/2024

Fire Horse Yoga opened on January 1, 2001 and is owned by Samantha Knies Gray.

Sam is owner #5. The business was started by a woman named Amar who gave it its name: she was born under the fire sign in the year of the horse. The building it’s currently in on Main Street was used to build wagons — you can still see the oil stains on the practice space floor. Sam was an instrumental part of the façade redesign, selecting colors and trim.

When asked what makes the establishment unique, Samantha said, “Fire Horse Yoga has been in business, continuously, in downtown Jasper since 2001. We are the only yoga studio in Jasper, offering traditional yoga and Barre Above classes. Some of our staff has been with us for over a decade; collectively, we have 10,000+ hours of teaching experience.”

Fire Horse Yoga is open 7 days/week with in-studio, online, private, and corporate classes/events. Yoga can be scary to start, but it’s not a religion. They have a strong focus on functional movement/stretching and nervous system regulation through traditional yoga poses and mindfulness techniques.
