Indiana Historic Tax Credit
Heart of Jasper hosted Ashlyn Ackerman with Weyland Ventures to present information on the IN Historic Tax Credits. We are grateful for Ashlyn’s time and expertise on this topic. If you are considering rehabbing a property that is on the National Registry or not listed, please reach out to see if you qualify for the tax credits.
The Indiana legislature just enacted a bill establishing a state historic tax credit. The yearly pool is $10 million and could cover up to 30% of eligible expenses for owners doing work on historic properties. For income-producing properties, the state credit of 25% can be coupled with a federal tax credit of 20%, which can end up offsetting up to 45% of the rehabilitation costs for a building owner. Here is the bill: https://view.novoco-mail.com/?qs=233fd4f41a801d33ef4ee2935fe1ecd376ffdb86bd36d560a42853d65f46314541393022427aaf8d1682b1980da3a492cad3b6e2359d168fd8c61afdfbc17f69c4e8ae72c2bea8e73a1cae36b16c5e2a
The website below has good information on how to get feedback from the DNR on whether a property will qualify before going through the full research and application process to get nominated on for the Historic Register.
